Things to take care of when hiring maid services

29 October, 2017

When you tell your friends and relatives that you have hired a maid, they probably imagine you sitting on a couch relaxing and reading while the maid is doing all the house chores. This imagery does sound relaxing but it is not true. When you hire a maid service, you are actually doing a lot of other things in order to supervise. The cleaning lady who comes in your house to make your life a bit comfortable actually becomes a bit of a hassle at times.

Here we are going to give you some tips on how to supervise maids and what to expect from them:

1. Clearly communicate about the tasks you are expecting them to do

When you hire a cleaning service, it is important to tell them what you are expecting them to do. Specifically mention the tasks to the maid. These may include vacuuming, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, and sorting the clutter etc. It is better to prepare a to-do-list.

2. Be clear about what you expect from her

When the maid arrives, be clear about what do you expect from her.  If you want everything to be neat and clean, clearly say this. If you are a working lady and time is important, ask her to be on time and remain punctual. Set the basic rules precisely so you won’t have any problems later on.

3. Give her reasonable number of tasks

Your maid that you have hired is also a human being and cannot do more than her fair share of the tasks. If you have hired her for cleaning, you cannot expect her to take care of an old person in the house.

4. Fix the number of hours with the agency

Agencies mostly charge on per hour basis. They also have certain conditions regarding the minimum number of hours to work. Be reasonable in assigning the tasks to the maid, after all, you are paying for it. On the other hand, do not pile up unnecessary tasks just to fill in the hours.

5. Identify periodic tasks

Some tasks do not require cleaning every day. They can be cleaned once or twice a month. For example, cleaning blinds, dusting for windows etc. These types of tasks you should clearly communicate with your maid and set the periodic times accordingly.

6. Check to see if the maid is meeting requirements

With maids, you obviously will have to supervise everything. Determine if they are cleaning as per your requirements. If not, it should be communicated to them.  Give them a chance to improve but you can ask for a change if dissatisfied.

These are some of the factors you need to keep in mind when you hire a maid or a cleaning lady. Once the maids have settled within your routine, you will be relaxed and happy with their work. Bottom of FormFor a professional cleaning service, consult Batmaid.
